FUNTIME SKATELAND 

The large building at this site once housed one of the very first recreational centers in Southaven that was anchored by a movie theater, bowling alley, and skating rink named Funtime Skateland.  Although the building was constructed in the early 1970s, it went to a new plateau of popularity when the first skating rink in Southaven’s history opened in 1978.  Funtime quickly earned its name as it became the place to be on Friday nights in the early 1980s.  It sustained the height of its popularity throughout the decade as all-night skating events and high school dances were added to the fun.  Special friends, great music, strobe lights and carpeted-spool seating all spark the memories of so many unforgettable experiences lived here.
