CHERRY VALLEY PARK
In 1969, this park became the first permanent home to organized youth sports in Southaven and remained the official complex of youth baseball, football, and cheerleading until 1999 when it was converted to football, exclusively. In the city’s early years, this park was the epicenter of youth recreation and where many memories and long-term friendships were made. Countless games played here were nothing short of legendary and the leagues’ teams brought home many state championship trophies. This park was built and operated by dedicated parents who volunteered long hours to give their kids a great place to play. A perfect day at this park was when you played “cupball” before or after your game and outran twenty other kids retrieving a foul ball for a free coke at the concession stand.
