Office Functions
The City Clerk fulfills the following duties and responsibilities:
- Acts as custodian of all official records of the City and maintains all municipal minutes in which any and all proceedings and orders, ordinances, and judgments of the Mayor and Board of Alderman are recorded
- Responsible for maintaining such permanent records in accordance with the State Public Records Act
- Publishes, updates, and distributes the City of Southaven’s adopted Code of Ordinances Serves as the notary public and officiates for all bid openings associated with City work
- Trains clerk staff
- Oversees all bid preparations and purchasing for all City departments
- Oversees the daily deposits of the City and the issuance of business licenses
- Reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer
