Public Fire and Life Safety Education
Mission Statement
The mission of the Southaven Fire Department’s Public Fire and Life Safety Education Division is to minimize the loss of life and property resulting from fires, medical emergencies, environmental, and other disasters. One of the ways we accomplish this is through education in schools, homes, and businesses. The promotion of fire and life safety initiatives throughout our community is a vital part in the prevention of injuries and deaths related to fires and other emergencies. We will actively participate in our community, serve as role models, and strive to effectively and efficiently utilize all of the necessary resources at our command to provide a product deemed excellent by our citizens. The Southaven Fire Department believes that pride, the pursuit of excellence, and commitment to public service is of paramount importance
Overview
Fire and Life Safety awareness programs focus on fire prevention, life safety issues and hazards in the home and workplace. Programs are targeted to age appropriate audiences for the material being presented. The Southaven Fire Department’s Fire and Life Safety Education Division offers a wide array of programs throughout our community. Programs are offered from pre-k through grade 12 annually. Monthly classes are held for the general public to attend that focus on a variety of specific topics that can be presented to a family. We also offer a fire and fall prevention program to the seniors in the City of Southaven. During the month of October, which is fire prevention month, we have an annual Fire and Life Safety Day which is open to the public
