School Programs

Available Southaven School Programs
Officer Friendly

Presented to every kindergarten and first-grader at all four elementary schools. The Southaven Police Department gives in-house tours to scouts and other civic groups.

Child Identification

All kindergarten and first-grade students are digitally fingerprinted and photographed, and a DNA sample is taken. This information is sent to the parents. This past year our department attended the Muscular Dystrophy Association Camp and provided this service to all attendees.

Halloween Safety

In conjunction with the Southaven High School drama class, a Halloween-themed safety skit is written by the drama club and presented to all elementary schools in Southaven. Along with the skit, a food drive is done at all the schools to supply the food bank.

Prom Promise

The Southaven Fire Department, Southaven High Students, and DeSoto Central High students create a mock accident. The accident involves the Southaven Police and Fire Departments attending to the scene of the mock accident where alcohol was involved. The drama students at the schools are the actors. It is a very dramatic presentation to show the dangers of drinking and driving.

Be a Winner

A 12-week drug education and prevention program is taught to every fifth-grader in Southaven schools. This program not only teaches the dangers of drugs but also life skills to avoid bad decision making.
