Automobile tags must be purchased annually and are due during the month in which the vehicle was purchased. For new residents, Mississippi State law requires automobiles be registered within 30 days of establishing residence. Vehicles purchased new or used from a dealer or individual must register within seven days - in all cases. License plates must reflect the county of residence of the registered owner.
